Portal and mesenteric Vein Thrombosis in a patients with nephrotic Syndrome

Abstract

|
Thrombosis in one of the main complications of nephrotic syndrome; however, mesenteric and portal vein thrombosis have been rarely reported. We describe the mesenteric and portal vein thrombosis in a young man with nephrotic syndrome who admitted
to our
hospital due to abdominal pain. Abdomen CT and laparotomy showed involvement of several mesenteric veins. In spite of conventional therapy such as heparin infusion and solumedrol therapy, there was no improvement of symptoms. From this case, we
experienced that early diagnosis of mesenteric vein thrombosis is important to manage successfully.
